Russian Birch Seed (Betula Pendula) - 40 pack
Russian Birch Tree Seed (Betula Pendula)
Pack of 40 fresh Russian Birch (Betula Pendula) seeds, collected this season for sowing.
The Birch is a tree that has a generally thin trunk, with bark of a characteristic pure white, which at the base of the trunk darkens and cracks with age.
The young specimens have brownish bark, like that of the cherry tree. The radical system is shallow and widespread. The cup is more or less aovate, leafy, but of little shade, with the branches almost upright.
The twigs of the year and the shoots are glabrous, with resinous glands. The buds are sharp. The leaves measure about 6 cm, of which 1/3 is the petiole. This is cylindrical, which makes it distinguishable from the genus Populus. The nerves are rectilinear, and reach the leaf margin (difference with Populus nigra). It blooms in late winter, with male articles already formed in autumn. These are seated and lampiños and measure about 3-6cm and appear in groups of 2 or 3.
It is a species of easy germination and dissemination.
By distilling its bark a pitch is obtained that is used for the production of ointments for skin diseases. With its leaves infusions with diuretic properties are made.
